Mom.
I am a single mom to two children, a second grader and fourth grader, who attend our Albany Park neighborhood school, Hibbard Elementary. I have served on our school’s LSC for over 8 years, assessing and approving 8 school budgets. In 2022 I was nominated as the Chair by our teacher representatives and led our principal selection process in partnership with a teacher & staff selection committee.

Activist.
I am a person with disabilities, a parent to a child with an IEP, and I work as a volunteer advocate for families of students with disabilities. I spend everyday fighting for our kids in a system that is built around minimum legal compliance.
I am also a peer advocate for survivors of gender based violence, serve on the board of Planned Parenthood Illinois Action, am a trained Raise Your Hand parent organizer, a member of the League of Women Voters and am a dedicated education organizer.

Public Servant.
In addition to the unique knowledge and insights I bring as a parent, I have nearly 20 years of professional experience managing public policy, finance, and budget programs.
I have ample experience managing multi-million dollar municipal budgets (which operate very differently from the corporate sector), maximizing the impact of limited funds, and building sustainable partnerships across government, philanthropic and non-profit sectors. Currently I serve as a Senior Consultant for the Alliance for Black Equality PAC, under the leadership of Dr. Alvin Tillery.
I know how to navigate the politics and where to cut through bureaucracy to get things done.
